OpenOffice
Home of the complete application suite and, after all, free. On the Macintosh it needs an XWindows environment, as X11, available in the system CD. OpenOffice is able to read and write all MS Office files (except for MS Access, even if it has a very similar database module)

NeoOffice
Coming from OpenOffice, it is built in Java, now with a OSX interface. It is a little slower than OpenOffice but it is more OSX friendly. No problem to read and write all MS Office files (except for MS Access, even if it has a very similar database module). Differently from OpenOffice, it can use all OSX installed fonts.
